ADVENT || DAY 6 || LEAN IN AND KEEP QUIET
“But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19
How often do you slow your pace of life in this 90 mile per hour world? As the flurries of the holidays and cheer invade our everyday lives, how do we make room for rest and reflection, or do we?
Amidst the splendor and simplicity of Jesus come to earth the angels rejoiced in a glorious display. The shepherds stood in awe as Mary, the mother of this fragile world-changing miracle, took time to pause. I can’t imagine how she reflected on God’s vast and mysterious plan unfolding right in her very arms. But we know Mary intentionally let it sink in, to treasure what she saw and meditate on the intricate ways that God was at work in her life and the world.
As the pages of 2015 slowly turn to another chapter may we look with fresh eyes. Where do we see God’s intricate and mysterious plans unfolding in our lives? Maybe it’s in unexpected moment where you truly felt HIM-His grace, His peace, His presence in undeniable ways. Reflect on Jesus and treasure His nearness in whichever state this season finds you. The same babe that came to redeem humanity hundreds of years ago in Bethlehem is in the business of redeeming all of the broken corners of our lives this season too. Lean in, keep quiet and learn to ponder Him afresh.
