We practice the sacrament of water baptism at Westside because we see it established throughout the Bible as essential step to following and knowing God (Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16, Matthew 28:19.) But beyond this idea of “The Bible says so…” we see baptism as an incredibly powerful and personal event in the life of every believer. Stepping into the waters of baptism marks the moment we join with the dream of Jesus that our old, caged-in lives would be buried away and our new, free, abundant life would emerg (John 10:10.) It is the natural evidence of what was already accomplished for us supernaturally when Jesus was buried and rose again.
Four opportunities are offered each year for those aged 8 and older who would like to be baptized. Three take place here at Westside, one is held in the very cold waters of the Deschutes River. That one is our favorite, but you do you.
