Alive in Christ! The foundation of this truth is found in the other phrases today’s text emphasizes. Phrases like, “His great love,” “who is rich in mercy” and “expressed in His kindness” transform our lives. And how amazing is it to realize these are gifts we receive by grace?
Ephesians 2:4-9 NIV
But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Prayer + Reflection
1. Pray that you would help your community experience God’s mercy.
2. Pray that God would use you so your neighbors and city can experience His goodness.
3. Pray for your church to be an expression of God’s love.
Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection from the grave made the way for people to be a part of God’s family. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17. When we choose to follow Jesus, our old selves are gone, and He transforms our hearts. It’s Jesus living in us that makes us a new creation! Celebrate that truth by taking turns sharing how you see Jesus on display in each family member.
