We are excited to announce that this year our 3-year-olds–5th graders will be putting on a Christmas performance in the main services at both 9am and 10:30am on December 11th. The performance will consist of a short play and a few songs performed together with our worship band.

How do we sign up?
If your child is interested in a speaking role:

Our Kindergarten–5th graders will be able to audition for speaking roles. If your child is interested in a speaking role, auditions will be held on November 20th during the 10:30am service. They will need to inform their teacher of that day that they want to audition.

We are asking that different age groups memorize different lines to deliver for their audition.

Here is a link to the full script.

  • 4th-5th Graders: Please memorize all of the lines for Narrator 3 in Section One.
  • 2nd-3rd Graders: Please memorize the Emperor’s line in Section Two. Also be prepared to act as a cow, sheep and chicken described in the line from Narrator 1 in Section One.
  • K-1st Graders: Be prepared to act as a cow, sheep and chicken described in the line from Narrator 1 in Section One.

All kids chosen to be in the skit will be expected to be at both services on December 11th, and at rehearsal on December 4th for an hour after the 10:30am service.

If your child is not interested in a speaking role:
All other children who are not interested in a speaking role, but want to participate, will be a part of our choir. We will be rehearsing our song in each of our Sunday school classes starting on Sunday, November 13th. We will be practicing each week leading up to December 11th.

If possible, we would love for all choir members to also be there for both services on December 11th! If that isn’t possible, then whatever service children are there for that day will be the service they perform in.

If your child does not want to participate in the performance at all, please have them plan to attend main service with you on December 11th.

We would love for you to practice these songs at home. Here is a Spotify playlist with the versions of the songs we will be using to practice.

Westside Kids has been growing and we love seeing classrooms filled with kids! We are creating a special classroom for kindergarten and first graders that will allow for smaller class sizes and provide more opportunity to get to know each child.

On Sunday, October 23rd, we will move kindergartners and first graders upstairs for both services to a new and improved classroom. Please check your child in at a kiosk in the Family Commons to get their name tag updated and then follow the signs to the stairs and their exciting new space!

With our rapidly growing classrooms, we also have a big need for more volunteers in Westside Kids. If you are able to volunteer, please sign up below!

Westside Family Fest

August 16

Westside Family Festival is an evening event to engage and include the whole family. Carnival style, family fun.

Children are truly a gift to the world and to our community. So often they lead the way in showing us how to love without prejudice, to create without fear, and to explore without hesitation. They teach us to live in the moment, to be present with those around us, and to be curious about everything!

Children’s Day is celebrated around the world and is an important day in the Latino community. We are partnering with Iglesia Westside to honor the kids in our community and celebrate childhood. On Sunday, May 1 from 12-2pm here at Westside we will have fun activities, games, a bounce house, and prizes for kids, plus a free hot dog lunch for everyone in the family.

Please bring your friends and family to this free event as we set aside this time to love our kids and help them to feel honored and special.

Foursquare International has provided a great resource for families who want to go through the 21 Days of Prayer together. We’re on day two, but you can join any time. We’ve included the packet for families here. Check out https://www.foursquare.org/events/21-days-of-prayer for more resources.

This is a great opportunity to learn about prayer as a family, to read scripture, to share, and to have a family moment.

We’re excited to share with you an advent for December 2021. We hope you’ll take some time as a family to talk about the Christmas story, to make memories and maybe even create some new traditions. We’ve included lots of fun ideas for the holiday season. We’d love to see photos and hear stories about your advent adventures.

Merry Christmas from the Westside Family Team!
