Sermon Transcript:

:12 Welcome to the meditation and worship series with Westside church. Over the next few weeks, we will be meditating on scripture and diving into some practices. As we walk through the season of lent. Our hope is that over the course of this Lenten season, this time of meditation and worship can be a breath of fresh air as we journey towards Easter together. So let's start by pausing for a moment And focusing our attention on Jesus. Let's be expectant of the movement of the holy spirit in our time together. If you're able to do so close your eyes, hold out your hands in front of you in a posture of surrender, Take a deep breath in And out And another in And out This week, we are walking through a few different songs. The book of Psalms is a rich and beautiful book full of poetry, songs and prayers covering the vast range of emotions felt by humanity. Today. We are looking at Psalm 24 and what it means to find renewal in our worship of the king of glory. Psalm 24, The earth is the Lord's and everything in it, the world and all its people belonged to him for. He laid the Earth's foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths

02:00 Who may climb the mountain of the Lord, who may stand in his holy place. Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols, and never tell lies. They will receive the Lord's blessing and have a right relationship with God. Their savior Such people may seek you and worship in your presence. Oh God of Jacob, Open up ancient gates, open up ancient doors and let the king of glory enter. Who is the king of glory, the Lord strong and mighty the Lord invincible in battle. Open up ancient gates, open up ancient doors and let the king of glory enter. Who is the king of glory? The Lord of heaven's armies.

03:02 He

03:03 Is the king of glory To worship is to submit to surrender. When we invite in the king of glory to enter, we are inviting him in so that we can be in his presence In his presence. We bow down. It is the only response as we sit in the midst of his glory. Pastor Adele, Calvin writes worship can touch our deepest feelings, but that is not the litmus test for worship Feelings can come and go. But the joyous Trinity remains forever worthy In light of the Trinity's beauty and loveliness. Everything else on the horizon of our attention takes its proper secondary place Above and before all other good things remains the Pearl of great price. The king of all Kings and the Lord of all Lords In the presence of the king of glory. We are truly satisfied. It is the thing, our souls long for closeness with him To know him and love him and to be known and loved by him. Who is God to you? What are names of God that best? Describe your relationship with him right now. Shepherd Lord father, bread of life. Comforter. What does this name mean to you?

05:10 In what ways do you worship the Lord? Maybe through music or painting or walking through nature? What about God moves you to worship him Today? Let us sit in the presence of God. Let us welcome him in to all that we do and worship him alone. King of glory. We worship you. We praise your great name for you are good and mighty. And the creator of all. Today, we join with all creation and lift a voice to worship you. Our shepherd, our savior king of Kings Today, reveal to us new ways in which to worship you. We bow to your great name. Amen.
